**Q. Side of triangle is 6 more than the height to that side. Area of the triangle is 260 m2 find the length of the side and height**

**Answer : **

Hi Maya, Thanks for the question.

Here is the solution:

*Topic : Triangle*

**Concept and Method:**

Its mentioned that side is 6 more than the height to that side.

It means side given is Base

Let ** h **be height then base would be

*h+6**Area of Triangle = 1/2 * Base * Height*

Substituting the values, we get

*260 = 1/2 * (h+6) * h*

Solving we get, * h ^{2} + 6h - 520 = 0*

Splitting middle term,* h ^{2} - 20h + 26h - 520 = 0*

Solving, * h(h-20) + 26(h -20) = 0*

We get, *(h-20) (h+ 26) = 0*

So we get,* h = 20 or h = -26*

*Height can not be negative hence h = 20 m*

*So side would be 20+6 = 26 m*

*Length of side is 26 m and height is 20 m*
